Yes the rumors are true…I now have a fabulous and very young little kitty. Her name is Rosie! Her name was inspired by several great "Rosie's". Rosie O’Donnell- loud mouth, controversial, funny power lesbian, Rosie Perez-funny, Puerto Rican, dancer, activist and Rosie the Riveter-bandanda wearing, feminist bad ass. My Rosie is about a month old…so she is still very young. She cries a lot. I am sure she misses her mommy…. I mean who wouldn’t? But we are getting used to each other’s smells, habits and schedules! I would say that it is going pretty well thus far.
Now let’s get down to the nitty gritty. Although I love animals and having pets of all kinds, a little kitty would not be my first choice. However, I am having a semi-serious problem with mice and even a rat or two in my house. I mean I have no idea why they need to be at my house. Surely there are much nicer and dirtier houses for them invade. I have tried poisoning them (which I really don’t like because then I find a dead mouse a couple of days later which is both sad and gross). So I am now using the best mouse trap there is (or at least I hope so)… a Cat!
It is my hope that the mice and rats will smell/see my kitty and decide that it is not worth coming in. And if they do come in, then I am hoping Rosie will chase them out…and if need be get rid of them for good.
So I will keep ya updated as to how Rosie and I get along as well as how Rosie and the mice get along!
Ahhh the joys of owning a house in Mozambique!
